Hockey Fights Cancer

2022-11-18

Hello FYHA members

November is Hockey Fights Cancer month!   Do you know that over half of Canadians are expected to be diagnosed with some form of cancer in their lifetime? Hockey Fights Cancer is a partnership between the NHL, the NHLPA, and the Canadian Cancer Society. Funds raised through the HFC partnership provide compassionate support services when they are needed most - such as accommodations during cancer treatment and transportation to and from treatment. HFC has raised more than $32 million for local and national research institutions, children’s hospitals, and charities.

This year FYHA has teamed up with the Canadian Cancer Society to run a joint fundraiser in support of cancer research and our minor hockey teams. During the month of November purple hockey tape will be available for purchase at a cost of $12/roll. Each team will be able to keep $3/roll of this with the remaining funds going to the Canadian Cancer Society. This is a great way to fundraise for your end of year party.

Team managers are asked to reach out to their teams to determine how many rolls are needed. Once you have determined the number of rolls of tape required please email Chris Frame (frame.chris@gmail.com) with your team name and the total number of rolls needed. Managers should collect funds from their team and provide $9/roll to Chris at the time of delivery of the tape. $3/roll should be retained in the team account.

We’d also encourage each team to take a team photo with their sticks taped in purple and send it to secretaryfyha@gmail.com.
